Isabelle "Bell" Wilson Abernathy
NOTES: Isabelle (Bell) Wilson, daughter of Jesse Wilson and Amanda Hunicutt, wife John W. Abernathy. TWO OBITUARIES: Tribune News (Cartersville, Georgia), July 07, 1927 On Monday night, June 13, the death angel visited the
home of Mr. J.W. Abernathy and carried away the spirit of his loving
wife, Belle. She had only been sick a short while and her death was
a shock to her many friends. The Cherokee Advance (Canton, GA), June 24, 1927 After two weeks of illness, Aunt Belle bid adieu to toil and strife and passed through the door that leads to another lie, on June 13, 1927, at the age of 27. God, in pity, looks upon the trials and discouragements that here betide. When the earthly door shuts, the heavenly door He opens wide. A darling baby preceded her in death three years ago and her husband, John W., three sons, Charley, Grady, Lawrence and one daughter Nellie Belle, remain in the shadow land to deeply realize the links in the family chain are broken, but we know what weans us from earth and attracts us heavenward must be good and what is night here may be dawn elsewhere. Aunt Belle was always cheerful, kind and true and with a good word for all about her had won faithful friends with all whom she met. To know her was to love her. The funeral services were conducted Wednesday by Rev. Will Abernathy at Macedonia church, Bartow County. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. We cannot find words adequate to express how much we miss her. A place is vacant in the home that can be filled. Besides her husband and children, she leaves a father, eight brothers, and one sister.
