Mr. Troy Abernathy, 52, of 25 Cut Off Road, Cartersville, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2003 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Bartow County on November 15, 1950, the son of Dewitt Abernathy and the late Ruby Abernathy. Troy was last employed by DMI Distributors as a truck driver. He was a member of the Global Harvest Church of God and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Preceding him in death is his mother, Ruby Abernathy, who passed away April 9, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Abernathy; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Rea Abernathy; two stepsons, Joe and Allan Pachecio and Roger Hartsfield, his father, Dewitt Abernathy; two brothers, Doyle and Stevie Abernathy, all of Cartersville; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Global Harvest Church of God on Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. J.T. Willoughby, the Rev. Richie Franklin and the Rev. Elihue Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Lamar, Dewayne and Forrest Abernathy, Derrick Lanham, Bobby Smith and Brian Gilmore.
