Barger Funeral Sunday
Mrs. Doxie H. Barger, of Acworth, died in a local hospital Friday
after a long illness.
She was a native of Bartow County and was the widow of the late
William E. Barger. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. W.D. Howell, Mrs. Alice Stephenson
and Mrs. Lonnie Armstrong, all of Cartersville; Mrs. Rebecca Poole,
Acworth; and Mrs. Christine Lee, Shannon; a son Lonnie H. Barger,
Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Nevada Abernathy, Cartersville; 21 grandchildren;
36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number
of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Macedonia Baptist
Church with the Rev. Walton Abernathy in charge. Interment was in
the old Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joey Abernathy, Donald Gravley, Bill and Paul Poole,
Terry and Larry Mitchell.

William E. Barger Passes Saturday Rites Monday A.M.
William E. Barger passed away at his home in the Center Community
Saturday after an illness of three days.
A native of Hickory, North Carolina, Mr. Barger was born January 18,
1877, the son of Allen and Elizabeth Huffman Barger.
Mr. Barger was engaged in farming and was a member of the Lutheran
Church.
Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Doxie Howell, five daughters;
Mrs. Willie Howell, Mrs. Zonnie Armstrong, Mrs. Rebecca Poole, Mrs.
Christine Lee, Mrs. Alice Stephens, Cartersville, two sons; Lonnie
Barter, Boston Massachusetts, Felix Barger, Atlanta; 19 grandchildren
and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning
at the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church on the Canton Road. The
Rev. Nat Abernathy and the Rev. Cliff Franklin officiated.
Sons-in-laws served as pallbearers and interment was in the old Macedonia
Cemetery with Owen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
