Luther Hill and Rachel Abernathy Hill
NOTES: Rachel Abernathy Hill, daughter of Elihue Richard and Naomi Howell, wife of Thomas Luther Hill ,Jr. Thomas Luther Hill, Jr., son of Thomas Luther Hill, Sr. and Roxie Jarrett, husband of Rachel Abernathy. Rachel Abernathy Hill Daily Tribune (Cartersville, Georgia) -- April 10, 2012 Mrs. Rachel A. Hill, 83, of 240 White Road, N.W., Adairsville, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Floyd Medical Center, Rome. She was born April 1, 1929, in Cherokee County, daughter of the late Elihue Richard and Naomi Howell Abernathy. Mrs. Hill was a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, Cartersville, and had retired from the Bartow County School System after 30 years of service, during which she worked in the cafeterias of Adairsville Elementary, Middle and High schools among others. Her interests included crossword puzzles and traveling, having visited all 50 states. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Thomas Luther Hill Jr. of Adairsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Wayne Buttram of Adairsville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Lavonda Hill of Gainesville, and Mark R. Hill of Adairsville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Donald Abernathy Sr. of Adairsville, Dale Abernathy of Hidden Creek community and Jerry Abernathy of Prattville, Ala. Nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Elder Will Martin, Elder Wayne Peters and Elder Jerry Abernathy officiating. The interment will follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery, Cherokee County. Pallbearers include Nick Hill, Brandon Waters, Brett Buttram, Drew Buttram, Jake Hill and Eric Abernathy. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Barton Funeral Home. R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Rachel Hill. **** Thomas Luther Hill, Jr. Obituary from Barton Funeral Home Mr. Thomas Luther Hill, Jr., age 88, of White Road, NW, Adairsville, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Piedmont Hospital. He was born February 7, 1929, in Bartow County, GA, son of the late Thomas Luther Hill, Sr. and Roxie Jarrett Hill. Mr. Hill was a devout member and longtime deacon of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church. After retiring from General Motors he enjoyed keeping a manicured yard and woodworking, especially making birdhouses and toys for his grandchildren. In his lifetime Mr. Hill and his late wife, Rachel enjoyed visiting all 50 states and some of Europe. His contagious smile could brighten anyone’s day, even a complete stranger. Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rachel Abernathy Hill; daughter, Peggy Buttram; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lavonda Hill of Gainesville and Mark and Kim Hill of Adairsville; a son-in-law, Wayne Buttram of Adairsville; brother, Billy and Gwen Hill of Ball Ground; sister, Mildred Long of Acworth; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, White, GA with Elder Will Martin, Elder Wayne Peters and Elder Marty Smith officiating. The interment will follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery in the Stamp Creek Community. Pallbearers include Nick Hill, Jake Hill, Brandon Waters, Brett Buttram, Drew Buttram, and Jeffrey Barnett. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home. R.
