Quimby Keever The Tribune (Cartersville, Georgia) June 26, 1944 Mr. Quimby Keever Well Known Farmer Takes Own Life Corbin Community Resident Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Would Friday Friends are shocked to learn of the death of Mr. Quimby Keever, 33, well-known Corbin community farmer who died late Friday afternoon from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Mr. Keever is alleged to have shot himself through the head with a small bore .22 rifle as he stood on the front porch of his home. Sheriff George Gaddis, summoned to the scene, was told by Mrs. Keever, that her husband’s action came as a shock to her. She reported that he came in from work about five o’clock in the afternoon, put his mules in the barn and entered the house apparently in the best of spirits. She told that he did not seem despondent in anyway, nor had he been drinking. Mrs. Keever told the sheriff that her husband fired the fatal bullet into his brain as he stood on the front porch, just outside the front door. Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at 11 o’clock from the Macedonia Church; Rev. Lee Black officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, the following friends serving as pallbearers; Messrs. Jim Keever, Horace Smith, J.W. Young, C.C. Summey, Max King, and Wilson Kown. Owen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Keever was born in Bartow County, November 12, 1907, a son of Mr. Thomas Keever and the late Fannie Knight Keever, pioneer Bartow County residents. He had made his home practically all his life in the White district, where he has a farm. He was married ten years ago to Miss Eliza Abernathy. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James Keever; four daughters, Fannie, Donie Sue, Martha Jane and Lula Bell Keever; his father, Mr. Thomas Keever; one sister, Mrs. Wilford Daniel, of Trion, Georgia. Tenderest sympathy goes out to members of the bereaved
family in their tragic loss. Eliza Abernathy Keever Daily Tribune News (Cartersville, GA), March 28, 2002 Eliza A. Keever, 89, of Massell Drive, Cartersville,
