Miss Lula Knight Pneumonia Victim
Funeral Service To Be Held Saturday at Macedonia – Brother Is
In Critical Condition With Same Illness
Friends by the score were shocked to learn that Miss Lula Cora Jane
Knight, 37, died at her home on the Etowah near Cartersville early
Thursday morning, following a brief siege of pneumonia. The news reached
here shortly after six o’clock, the passing occasioning sorrow
in many homes.
Although definite funeral plans have not been arranged, they have
been set for Saturday at Macedonia, with Rev. Cleve Cowart officiating.
Interment will be in the Macedonia cemetery, John W. Jones, funeral
director, in charge of arrangements.
Miss Knight is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roe Knight, one
of Bartow County’s most prominent pioneer families. Born and
reared near Cartersville, she is widely known, gaining the love and
respect of many friends. She is a sister of Messrs. Bill, Joe, Wes
and Jim Knight, all prominent citizens of this county.
Besides her brothers, she is survived by two sisters, Miss Mollie
Knight and Mrs. John Crisp.
Of upright, Christian character, Knight had the love and respect of
all with whom she came in contact. Her willingness to help her friends
in times of need was one of her most admirable traits, and she will
be sorely missed from the circles.
Meanwhile, her brother, Wesley, is in critical condition. He is suffering
from pneumonia, and as the Tribune-News goes to press late Thursday
afternoon, although he is receiving every attention, little hope is
expressed for his recovery.
Scores of friends throughout the county offer tenderest sympathy to
members of the bereaved family in their hour of trials and sorrow.
