Fannie Ellen Atkinson White

NOTES:

Fannie Ellen Atkinson, daughter of Nicholas Faulkner Atkinson and Elizabeth Abernathy, wife of Willie Gus White.

After her death, her son Luther built a small white shelter over her grave. He also dug his own grave and built an extension to the shelter over it. Over time, the condition of the shelter deteriorated and was finally removed.

White Rites Monday
Mrs. Fannie Ellen White, 88, died following a lingering illness, Saturday at her home on Route 3, Cartersville.
A member of the Baptist denomination, Mrs. White was born in Cherokee County and was the wife of the late Willie White.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ida Reeves, Rockmart; two sons, Luther (Bob) White and Gus White, both of Cartersville; 13 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 PM from the New Macedonia Baptist Church on the Canton Highway with the Rev. Tom Bill Blackburn officiating. Interment followed in the Macedonia Cemetery.
Owen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
