Young’s sister, Ashley Young, said her brother was a truly kind person who loved deep sea fishing, hunting, visiting the beach and especially riding motorcycles.

“Michael always opened his arms up to people, no matter what their background was or where they came from, or even if they hurt his feelings. He was very big on forgiveness and he was very big on love,” she said. “He loved his little brother, David Richard, most of all.”

Young’s sister said her brother, a Cherokee High School graduate, worked for Harley Davidson and had wanted to be a forest ranger, attending school for forestry at Chattahoochee Technical College for a period of time.

Young said her brother was on his way home to see family when he wrecked.

“One of the last things he said on social media was how fantastic his mother was and how she really inspired him and encouraged him, and he was making a huge life change,” she said. “We’re not really sure what that was.”

Young said her brother’s smile was amazing.

“When he smiled at you, you knew he loved you,” she said. “He was very laid back and carefree.”

A funeral is scheduled for Young today at 2 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home in Canton, with the Revs. Jim McRae and Steve Klaesius and Dr. C.R. Hill officiating.

The obituary for Young said he was a wonderful brother and son to parents Cheryl and David Young, sister, Ashley Young, and brother, David Richard.

“His continuous courage gave an unparalleled strength to those around him, encouraging them to reach beyond their own limitations,” the obituary read.
